"Bronson has always been drawn to all things water. It was no surprise that when he walked into Aaron's Dive Shop the first time you could tell he felt at home. Bronson continued to come into Aaron's to say, "Wassup" to his new friends. Bronson uses augmentative and alternative communication (a speech generating device) to communicate. One Saturday Carsten handed him a hose and let him rinse the dive gear from the morning charter. The two of them worked together to rinse the remainder of the gear and everyone knew there was now a new member to the Aaron's Ohana. Bronson continues to come in every Friday to help rinse gear from the morning dives. He walks into the shop, greets everyone and grabs the hose to get to work."
"April is Autism Awareness Month.
We want to take a moment to focus on some Autism Facts that you may or may not know already.
-Autism now affects 1 in 68 children (1 in 42 boys).
-Autism is a bio-neurological developmental disability that impacts the normal development of the brain in areas of social interaction, communication and cognitive function.
-Individuals with autism typically have difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication, social interactions, and leisure or play activities.
-Currently there is no cure for autism, though with intervention and treatment symptoms can be greatly improved."
We have a great time with our student volunteer, Bronson. He brings great attitude, a bright smile, and a contagious laugh.
We just wanted to congratulate our intern Bronson for an EXCELLENT showing at the Hawaii State Special Olympics this past weekend! Bronson's family showed incredible support and pride for his success. We felt lucky to be kept updated on his progress.
Bronson works incredibly hard during his time at the shop. He comes in the a great attitude and is willing to work on whatever we ask him to help with. We wanted to surprise him with a special thank you. So with the help or our Boat Captain, our Owner, and Shop Staff Tamrynn we were able to donate everything needed for him to make a snorkel trip from our boat.
Bronson had a great time feeding the fish, swimming at the different coral reefs (Koko Crater and Turtle Canyon), eating pineapple, and even driving the boat! His happiness and excitement was explosive and contagious in the best way! It was a great day and morale was sky high!
